The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr Flavian Zeija presided over the swearing in ceremony of Ms Rose Kabogoza Musoke Izizinga, as a member of the Education Service Commission at the Judiciary Headquarters, Kampala.
Ms Izizinga was first appointed as a Member of the Education Service Commission on 28th October, 2018 for a period of four years and was reappointed to serve in the same capacity.
The Principal Judge appealed to her to remain truthful to true to her oath to serve with impartiality. He emphasized the need to improve on the disciplinary action during her tenure of service.
"...Review the terms and conditions of service; Standing Orders, training and qualifications of public officers in the Education Service and the matters connected with their management and the welfare, and make recommendations to the government, among others," he said.
The Principal Judge further implored her to execute her advisory roles to the President with a distinction, by joining hands with other members of the commission in order to gently discharge her congressional mandate and duties.
He stressed the need to embrace technological advancements.
The Chairperson of the ESC, Dr Rev Prof Samuel Luboga noted that the appointment has come at the right time when there is an ongoing nationwide validation exercise for teachers.
He implored her to do her work with distinguished integrity, professionalism, fairness and accountability.
The mandate of Education Service Commission is to advise the President in performing his / her functions in relation to Article 172 of the Constitution and on appointing all personnel in the education service and charged in developing, maintaining and improving the quality of those personnel and that of the service generally.
The ceremony was witnessed among others; Dr Violet Kajubili Froelich (Deputy Chairperson of the Commission), Ms Elizabeth K.M Gabona (Deputy Chairperson of the Commision), Ms Sofia Nantongo(ESC Under Secretary) as well as other members of the Commission.
The ceremony was moderated by the Judiciary Public Relations Officer, HW Karemani Jamson Karemera.
